Remla
Redo, Denden & het Amsterdams Andalusisch Orkest
Are our worlds really that different, or do we have more in common than we thought? That question is at the heart in the autobiographical performance REMLA. Propelled by music from the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra, dancers Redouan Ait Chitt and Denden Karadeniz - well known in the world of hip-hop & breaking - go in search of connection. That search starts by taking a first step, with their roots as the starting point.
During the premiere at De Meervaart in February 2022, Redo suffered a serious injury that forced the cancellation of the rest of the tour. He has since made a full recovery and we are delighted that this performance will still be seen.
About the creators:
Internationally renowned breakdancer Redo won The Swan in 2019 for 'most impressive dance performance' and received a Royal award in 2020 for encouraging many young people, including people with disabilities, to take up dance.
Denden Karadeniz is known from TV programmes such as The Ultimate Dance Battle, So You Think You Can Dance and Time To Dance and is artistic director of the urban contemporary dance company Zero Dance Theatre.
The Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra (AAO) performs from Granada to Baghdad and has several successful theatre productions to his name, including ZIEL|ROUH, Jihad of Love and How I Got Talent for Life.
