ANDÁMOSIS: A combination of the Spanish word Andar which means to walk/ move and the Greek Antamosi which means encounter
ANDÁMOSIS is a dance/music project with original compositions, where flamenco meets rebetiko and Greek folklore culture, through dance, music and literature. The performance aims to bring these two traditions and cultures together by exploring the woman figure in both genres and telling the story of women's realities from the past to present times. In both flamenco and Greek traditional music and cultures, one can find so many silent stories of abuse and oppression and so many others of beauty and celebration of the female nature.
ANDÁMOSIS is a performance that highlights the need to speak up about what it means to be a woman in a patriarchal society. Nowadays, more than ever, finally society seems to be giving a bit more space to women to be heard, to speak about violence and abuse, to understand what the position of women has been throughout the years. ANDÁMOSIS is a story that dives deep into the struggle and fear, as well as the beauty and blessing of being a woman.
