Dans & beeldende kunstinstallatie

RAST and Dansmakers Amsterdam bring together two artists from Turkey in one programme. The Turkish artist Diren Demir (1997) refers to himself as a ‘backpacker artist’. Paganism and the ritual are recurring themes in his work. With his interactive art installation Confessions he invites you to make a confession. For each sin confessed by the participants, the artist confesses one of his own sins.
Open from 15:00.

Choreographer and dancer Canan Yücel Pekiçten (1985) searches in How to Enjoy Ceylon Tea for other ways to enjoy the historical colonial product Ceylon Tea. The work is inspired by Georges Bizet’s Orientalist opera The Pearl Fishers, about a community of pearl fishermen from Ceylon. In her dance performance Canan draws attention to tea and to the dominant Western way of theorizing: there is even a method for the enjoyment of something.

Aftertalk with tea and with Diren Demir and Canan Yücel Pekiçten with Şaban Ol and Suzy Blok.
